Oct 22, 2019 If, for any reason, you need to take the IE experience to the next level on a Mac, you could download a virtual machine (such as VMware Fusion, which has a Windows license), therefore creating a Microsoft environment on a Mac, which would allow you to download Internet Explorer. Sometimes a download is incomplete because the file was damaged. Try downloading it again. Make sure you have the app needed to open the file. If you do, the file may have been corrupted during the download. Delete it, then try downloading it again. The downloaded file may be a compressed archive or disk image that contains the file you want.

Safari User Guide

If you can’t open a website, try these suggestions.

Internet
  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, check the message that appears when a page fails to open.

It may suggest ways to solve the problem or include information you need to solve it.

  2. Make sure you’re using the correct address for the webpage.

If you copied and pasted the address, make sure it doesn’t have extra characters or missing characters at the beginning or end.

  3. If the website requires a VPN connection, make sure it’s functioning properly.

See Connect your Mac to a VPN.

  4. Try entering /index.html or /index.htm at the end of the address.

  5. Choose View > Reload Page.

If the page still won’t open, quit Safari, reopen it, then try again.

  6. Try again at a different time.

The website server may be busy, or the website may be unavailable temporarily.

  7. Contact your network administrator for help.

If you connect to the internet using a corporate or enterprise network, the network may have a firewall that prevents you from opening the webpage.

  8. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall, you may need to specify proxy servers to access some internet sites.

See Set up a proxy server using Safari.

  9. Contact the website’s owner to find out if the web server has a problem, or if the website is incompatible with Safari.

For example, Safari can’t open a website that uses a protocol other than http or https.

  10. Choose Apple menu > App Store, then click Updates.

Use the latest version of Safari. See Keep your Mac up to date.

  11. Click and hold the Reload button , then choose Reload Without Content Blockers.

The page might be blocked by a Content Blocker you have installed.

It’s certainly a frustrating experience when you launch your browser of choice, Safari for the Mac in our case, and it simply won’t load any pages. Most of the time you will be connected to Airport with a good signal, however, nothing happens. Restarting, zapping PRAM, shutting off will usually not solve this issue–just a blank white Safari screen.

There are 2 quick solutions to try when your Safari won’t load any pages. First, check the date and time on your system clock–strange, but true. If the date and time are not set correctly, Safari will have some certificate problems and pages simply won’t load. Check the date and time settings and assure yourself that they are correct. If Safari now loads, welcome back to the Internet. If not, try this:

Head to system preferences and into the Network system preference area. While in there, do the following steps:

  1. Unlock this system preference in the lower left hand corner with your administrator password
  2. Select the Location drop-down menu on the top of the window
  3. Choose “Edit Locations…”Hit the small + button at the bottom of this window
  4. Name your new location something like “Airport” or “Wireless
  5. Hit the done button and return to the previous window
  6. Select every item from te left column (except for Airport!) and delete each one, using the – (minus) button at the bottom of that column
  7. You should now only have Airport as a choice in the left hand column
  8. Hit the “apply” button on the bottom of the window and restart your computer
  9. Make sure to join the available Airport network in the Airport menu at the top of your screen
  10. Launch Safari (or whatever browser you use) and see if you now have Internet

Some other tricks to try if you aren’t working yet:

  1. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
  2. Click on “Remove All Website Data”
  3. Delete the cache
  4. Go to the Finder and open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
  5. Type or copy paste the following file
  6. ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
  7. Click Go then move this Cache.db file to your Trash.

Lastly, disable any Safari plug-ins you may be running in the Safari preferences. Sometimes these plugins can cause the Safari browser not to load pages correctly. Here’s how to do that:

Why Won't Internet Explorer Download On My Macbook Air Pro

  1. Choose Safari > Preferences.
  2. Click Extensions.
  3. Select an extension, then deselect the checkbox “Enable… extension.” Repeat this step for every extension that’s currently installed.
  4. Reboot your computer and try Safari again.

If you are back on the web, congratulations! If you aren’t, you may want to make sure you are fully backed up at this point, in case a wipe of your hard drive is in order.
